I’ve cleared CA Inter Group 1 and I’m about to start my articleship next month, aiming to tackle Group 2 in the next cycle. My biggest concern is effectively balancing the rigorous articleship demands, especially in a mid-sized firm handling extensive Income Tax and GST compliance work, with preparing for Group 2 subjects like Audit and Strategic Management. I’m worried about the mental fatigue after a full day of practical work, and how that will impact my ability to absorb and retain the vast theoretical portions of these papers. Specifically, what strategies have experienced CAs or aspirants successfully used to maintain focus on theoretical concepts like those in SM, or ensure thorough coverage of auditing standards (AS/SA) which require deep understanding, given the often unpredictable and demanding hours of articleship? Is it more effective to front-load theory before articleship starts, or integrate small, consistent study sessions daily, knowing that practical deadlines can often disrupt schedules? I’m trying to avoid falling into the trap of only focusing on practical work at the expense of exam prep.
